The State of Oregon

First of all, no sales tax. The other odd thing about Oregon is that it is against the law to pump your own gas. Every gas station in the state has an employee to pump gas for you. Creates a lot of jobs. Oregon has an amazing array of scenery. Green forests, Crater Lake, rock walls, high desert. The crazy thing is that at the turn of the century the settlers walked about 15 miles a day across all the mountains, forest, and desert to get to their new homes. Yeah, they had wagons, but they walked beside them because the wagons were carrying six months worth of food and supplies. I walked along a about a mile of the Oregon Trail, and I got lost on a second trail that popped up off of the trail that I was following. At least I could see a fence, off in the distance. Back then, there was no fence if you got lost.

  1. Wow--where is that waterfall? Stunning. So wild about the gas pumping. Never heard that.
